  • AMA signs agreement with AmCham - Jordan; Opens new access to the Middle East

    AMA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, the leading business organization in the Kingdom of Jordan. In a move aimed to expand their services to clients, AMA and AmCham Jordan have agreed to act as strategic partners in promoting two way trade and investment between Jordan and the U. S. Jordan, as the most stable country in the region, and with a fast growing economy, is eager to have its international business grow. AmCham Jordan, the most prominent business group in the country is leading the way by executing an agreement to give its members direct access to the American market through a relationship with AMA. Jordan is not only a growing market itself, it is a gateway to the entire Middle East. Importantly, it is serving as the principle entry point for goods and services dedicated to rebuilding of Iraq. For American companies evaluating opportunities in the region, this is a very positive development.

     
  • Opportunities in “New Europe”

    On October 29, 2004 American Market Access LLC, in coordination with Rutgers Business School, hosted the seminar “Opportunities in ‘New Europe’”, featuring Hungary and the Czech Republic as entrée points to the expanded European Union. An outstanding rooster of speakers included Angel Carro-Castrillo, Deputy Chief of Mission of the EU Mission to the UN, Josef Dvoracek, Commercial Counselor for the Czech Republic, Barnabas Nemeth, Trade Counselor for the Hungarian Consulate in New York, and Gualberto Medina, former Commerce Secretary of New Jersey, now a senior representative of Cushman Wakefield. Other participating organizations included White & Case, KPMG, US Department of Commerce, Ex-Im Bank and NJ Biz Magazine.

     
  • Doing Business in Libya

    “Doing Business in Libya” was the topic of a seminar that American Market Access assisted the New Jersey District Export Council to organize at Rutgers University on October 19th. Discussing the implications of eliminating the international sanctions against Libya, Ambassador Richard Murphy led a discussion that included a videoconference with the U. S. Commerce Department in Washington and Tripoli. It highlighted the extensive needs for updating Libyan infrastructure, and the $28 billion in foreign reserves available to do so.

     
  • Silicon Saxony Meets Silicon Valley

    “Silicon Saxony Meets Silicon Valley” was the topic of a seminar that John McCahill of American Market Access joined in Dresden, Germany on November 18. Featuring Ambassador John Kornblum and Prince Alexander von Saxon, the discussion included venture capital sources in the U. S. and Germany, impediments to start-ups in Germany and some of the successful economic development efforts of the State of Saxony.

     
  • Trade and Investment in the Middle East

    As the guest of the Jordanian American Chamber of Commerce at its December conference on “Policies and Regulations Affecting Trade and Investment in the Middle East,” John McCahill of American Market Access addressed the audience during the panel discussing “Market Access and Global Business Strategies.” The conference included representatives from throughout the Middle East, including Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq and Morocco, as well as significant turnout from the Jordanian government and business community and highlighted the opportunities for trade and investment throughout the region. The Free Trade Agreements that have been signed or are in negotiation continue to encourage this process.
